Jumbo Loans are different from normal conforming loans basically becuase of the loan amount. Due to the higher amount (over $417,000), they are considered a different risk factor and are bought and sold in a different category. Qualifying for jumbo loans is usually a little different but sometimes even easier depending on the credentials of the borrower(s). Many lenders and Brokers usually charge more for thier jumbo loans. However, for us there are many times when we may be able to get the borrower(s) a lower rate than a normal conforming loan. Although the wholesale lenders usually pay the brokers less percentage for doing the jumbo loan, sometimes the higher loan amount will help to offset the difference in total gross revenue from the loan.
